If you are installing Windows OS on a corrupted computer that contains corrupted OS, then you will receive an error like Windows Couldn’t format a partition on the disk with an error code 0x80070057. This error will occur while choosing the OS Disk Partition for the Installation. This error occurs due to the following reasons.

When installing Windows OS, it creates a System Reserved partition which is used for the OS recovery. This partition is known as the System Reserved partition. If there is any corruption in this partition then formatting will be a problem. During the OS installation, after choosing the OS disk partition, the process will format the drive. If there is any problem with the formatting then you will receive this error.

The system reserved partition is also reserved for the BitLocker encryption. If that partition is encrypted then it protects from the formatting action. Hence resulting in the same error.

So the only way to resolve this problem is by deleting all the partitions and making them unallocated. You have to format all the partitions including the system reserved. Then you need to create new partitions with the appropriate size.

Windows installation wizard offers disk management tools like delete, format, create new, and extend partitions. This Wizard also offers the Load Driver option, using this option you can install the OS with the system Drivers.

Choose the OS installation disk and the system reserved partition disk and click on the Delete option.

This option will Delete the partitions and make it unallocated.

Now you need to click on the New option, and create a partition. Mentation the size you want.

Click on OK and choose the New partition to install the operating system. Now the OS will install without any error.
