How to Disable Right Click Context Menu on Windows 10?

In windows 10, the Context menu is the Graphical user interface menu that appears while right-clicking on the mouse. This menu offers a limited set of options or choices depends on the application or operating system, Context menu can appear on any application that offers a lot of options for easy and efficient operation. In windows environment, the context menu is accessed by right click on the mouse or by the menu key on the keyboard. Disable Right Click Context Menu:

You can enable or disable Desktop right-click context menu using two different methods.

Using Registry Editor:

Note: Modifying the Registry is risky, and it causes irreversible damage to your OS Installation Follow the steps correctly. Friendly advice Before Modifying Registry Creating Restore Point is recommended.

Open Run command by pressing Windows + R and type Regedit and hit enter. This command will open Registry Editor Console.

Now Navigate to the following path.

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

From the Left-hand side click on the Explorer and from the right-hand side look for NoViewContextMenu DWORD. If you are not able to find the DWORD then you have to create it.

Right-click on an empty area and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. And Name the DWORD as NoViewContextMenu.

Double click on the DWORD and modify the value 0 to 1.

Disable Right Click Context Menu

Close the Registry Editor and Restart the system once.

Using Group Policy Editor:

Open Run command by pressing Windows + R and type gpedit.msc and hit enter. This will open Group Policy Editor.

Now Navigate to the following path.

User Configuration Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer

From the Left-hand side click on the File Explorer, and from the right-hand side look for Remove File Explorer’s default context menu named policy.

Double click on the Policy and open Policy setting, now choose Enabled on the Policy status.

Click on Apply and OK. Close the GPO editor and restart the system once.
