In Windows Operating system the RUN command is used to open any application or document directly whose path is already known. By default, all the RUN commands are stored in System32. By Pressing Windows + R you can open the RUN command prompt type the name of the application to open.  It functions more or less like a single-line command-line interface. We can open web pages also using this command-line interface. For example, If you want to open any webpage using Run Command, Just type www.example.com in the Run command and hit enter. Disable Run Command in Windows 10:
Windows 10 allows users to disable or enable the Run command using built-in tools, In two methods you can disable the run command in Windows 10. Let’s see the methods in detail.
Using Group Policy Editor:
If you are Windows 10 Home User, then this method is not suitable for you. Group Policy Editor is not included in Windows 10 Home Edition. So, Follow the second method to disable the Run Command. If you are using Enterprise or Pro Editions, then follow the below-mentioned steps.
Open Run command by pressing Windows + R and type Gpedit.msc and hit enter. This command will open the Group Policy Editor.
Now Navigate to the following path.
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
From the Left-hand side click on the Start Menu and Taskbar and from the right-hand side, look for the policy named Remove Run menu from Start Menu.
Double click on the Policy and Open Policy settings. Choose Enabled, to disable the run command.
Click on Apply and OK.
If you want to bring back the Run command, just follow the same steps above and choose Not Configured in the Remove run menu policy.
Once the policy is applied, then open Command Prompt and type gpupdate /force to update the policy.
Now open the Run command by pressing Windows + R and check.
Using Registry Editor:
Note: Modifying the Registry is risky, and it causes irreversible damage to your OS Installation Follow the steps correctly. Friendly advice Before Modifying Registry Creating Restore Point is recommended.
Open the Run command by pressing Windows + R and type Regedit and hit enter. This command will open the Registry Editor.
OR directly search for Registry Editor in the start menu and click to open it.
Now Navigate to the following path.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explore
From the Left-hand side click on the Explorer Register key, if you are not able to find the Registry key and then right-click on the Policies Registry key and choose New > Key and name it as Explorer.
Right-click on the Explorer key and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. And name it as NoRun.
Double click on NoRun DWORD and set the Value as 1, and click on OK.
Restart the system once to make the changes.
If you want to Enable the Run command, follow the same steps above and modify the NoRun DWORD value to 0, and click on OK.
